Prayer

Praying
Supplication to
God in Prayer

Posted on August 26,2011

Praying is the one thing a person can do to strengthen his/her resolve. God, unlike any creation of man, is the rock, the immovable mountain that you can lean on and not have it collapse.

It is truly remarkable what can be accomplished by turning to prayer. Our brain controls our emotions and our body chemistry. Prayer is like giving directions to our brain about what we need done. Faith healers know that people can heal themselves of many afflictions whenever the brain is programmed to work with the body. That is why faith healers are so popular. In a lot of cases the person who is infirm receives such strong reinforcement from prayer that healing actually occurs. There is only one requirement, to receive the transformation and reinforcement, the person has to trust God and know from deep within, that they will get better.

Group prayer is also effective. When a person knows others are praying for them, it acts as a strong reinforcement to them. The power of prayer cannot be underestimated. If you are down and need reinforcement or a spiritual lift, prayers for you from others can be very helpful.

We have all had our prayers not be answered. Praying for ‘things’ will not get results. Praying to win a ball game or praying for rain only works if it was in the cards anyway. Praying for things may act as a tension reliever, but disappointment looms whenever the thing prayed for doesn’t materialize - and might even jade a person against prayer. Whenever a person prays for things like money, he/she might as well be wishing.

It is important for prayer to be used for lifting our inner spirit. For instance, many pray to win a ballgame. But to be effective, the prayer should be for the spirit of the players. By having the players feel the inner strength of prayer, they may play to their full potential and actually win the game. But winning or losing the game is only a coincidence – encouragement to playing to the best of the player’s ability is the real hero.

Praying for guidance can help us make better decisions. Most of us realize that success requires a lot of good decisions; heartfelt prayer for guidance can help. Because you have given your brain the instructions it needs, you will see more clearly the pitfalls that would ordinarily be masked by the lure of temptation.

Psycho-cybernetics is another method of brain training towards a goal. It works like this: Suppose there is a boat that you want so bad you can taste it. By training your brain to create a path for obtaining the boat, you can count on it becoming a reality. The methods are simple. Put photographs around your house and in your wallet of the boat you want. Constant reminders will program your brain into devising a pathway to obtaining your desire. You just have to have faith in the system that it will happen. Reminders reinforce and refresh the problem to your brain and eventually it will hit upon a plan that will direct you to your goal.

Believing in God works much in the same way. Prayer is our reinforcing mechanism that directs our brain. Importantly, prayer works with our emotional side. The emotional side is the side of us that relates to health, joy, and sorrow. I know of no other way of tapping into this resource for help except through prayer. But only believers in God pray. If you pray then you believe, else you wouldn’t pray.

I close with this:
I received this email from a friend and wanted to pass it on. I have no actual knowledge whether this is a Billy Graham prayer or if Paul Harvey recited it on the radio. However, it is an accurate description of what creeping Liberalism is doing to this country. Enjoy!

Billy Graham's prayer aired by Paul Harvey...........................

THIS GUY SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THIS COUNTRY!

PAUL HARVEY'S ON- AIR PRAYER

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and To seek your direction and guidance.. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have Abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!'

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,' and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer Sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we Again can be called 'One nation under God.

God or Government-- Should the decisions about what is right or wrong be left up to the politicians? It is clear that we as a nation are losing our moral compass.

Needing God--- We practice religion for a reason. Our faith is like a contract with the others in our society. Faith dictates how we interact and sets the guidelines for behavior. No society has ever lost the bonds of that contract without facing cultural death.

Cultural Suicide-- Political Correctness, A Doubting Faith, and Judicial Activism are the harbingers of death for a culture. We are aiding the three deaths in our headlong race to commit - cultural suicide!
